The Skipper, John Roper, is a retired professional engineer who was first certified as a Canadian Yachting Association (CYA) Instructor in 1985
at the Jibset Sailing School in Vancouver. He is now in his 27th year of teaching safe sailing and cruising the coast of southwest B.C. John's professional
training and experience has enhanced his natural abilities as a leader, educator, communicator and sailor.
He founded the Gibsons Sailing School, has partnered in production of many community television shows about boating and serves as a director of the Gibsons Yacht Club.
